The hummingbird has great significance in my life and in many cultures around the world. It carries the symbolism of not only fertility, but of finding joy, drinking the sweet nectar of life, and of course opening the heart. Hummingbirds are also well know for being able to accomplish the seemingly impossible with their unique and brilliant flight patterns and can be a symbol of great strength and determination.
Furthermore, the very early movements of a baby in the womb feel like little flutters, so if my hummingbird has flown into your life today, I hope you take it as a sign that you have found exactly what you are looking for on your journey to becoming a parent.
In love and gratitude,
A Birth Doula is a Valuable Resource to Have in Your Corner!
Birth is a sacred, natural, and life-changing experience that should be honored every step of the way. As my client, you will receive compassionate and empowering care that includes evidence based information and tools to support your desired birth plan.
I will advocate for you and help you feel empowered throughout your labor and birth so you may bear witness to your strength and courage as a birthing woman.
As your doula I am also there to support your birth partner, guide them in ways they can best support you during labor, and be there to give them a break. Having a doula present means you and your birth partner can have continuous support during a time when you most need it and someone by your side throughout the entire journey.
I am here to support you if you…
Want a natural birth
Want an epidural
Have a birth partner
Are flying solo
Have a midwife or OBGYN
Have a birth plan or need help making one
Want to birth at home, in a birth center, or a hospital
Have birthed before or this is your first time
Want to feel EMPOWERED
Have any mixture of the above and want unbiased, continuous support as your birth unfolds
Benefits of a Doula
According to research, women who receive continuous support are more likely to have spontaneous vaginal births and less likely to have any pain medication, epidurals, negative feelings about childbirth, vacuum or forceps-assisted births, and Cesareans. In addition, their labors are shorter by about 40 minutes and their babies were less likely to have low Apgar scores at birth. There is also evidence that doula support in labor can lower postpartum depression in mothers.
From conception to birth, my goal is to help you honor the sacredness of pregnancy and birth. I am a mother of three, the creator of the The Sacred Womb Retreat, a certified fertility specialist & doula. I attended Naropa University in Boulder, CO where I studied yoga, meditation and Eastern philosophy,. I obtained my fertility training from Bebo Mia and my birth doula training from MaternityWise International.
My care integrates nutrition with mental & spiritual practices to create foundations for vibrant conception and birth experiences. I am a strong advocate for my clients and their desires for a healthy conception, pregnancy, and birth.
I love supporting women and couples from all walks of life as they journey toward parenthood by helping them uncover their innate wisdom, strength, and courage.
In my free time you will find me practicing yoga, reading, traveling, hiking, and spending time with my family. Oh, and binge watching Outlander.
